Mr Nader Rehmatullah is an active researcher, educator and clinical leader who has published in peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals, presented at national and international meetings, and shaped knee surgery services across Wales. Nader was educated in Cambridge and undertook his orthopaedic training in the Mersey Deanery, before completing two renowned specialist fellowships at Wrightington Hospital and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry — both UK Centres of Excellence. He passed the FRCS (Tr&Orth) examination of the Intercollegiate Specialty Board (England) in 2017.
His academic work spans sports knee reconstruction, joint replacement, cartilage restoration and clinical service redesign. He is an ATLS Instructor and remains engaged in teaching, research and national service improvement alongside his substantive consultant practice at Glan Clwyd & Abergele Hospitals, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
In March 2023 he was appointed Welsh National Clinical Lead for Knee Surgery, leading the development of new national pathways and protocols to standardise and improve knee care for patients throughout Wales.

Nader regularly presents his work at national and international orthopaedic meetings, sharing clinical experience in sports knee reconstruction, ligament surgery, cartilage restoration and joint replacement with peers and trainees.

- ATLS Instructor — teaching Advanced Trauma Life Support to multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Educational supervision and case-based teaching of orthopaedic trainees and allied health professionals within the NHS.
- Attends monthly complex knee meetings at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital, Oswestry, where challenging cases are discussed among a body of knee specialists — ensuring his patients receive the most appropriate, evidence-based treatment plans.

Welsh National Clinical Lead for Knee Surgery
Appointed March 2023. Nader leads service-wide improvements in knee surgery across Wales, developing new national pathways and protocols to standardise and raise the quality of knee care from referral through to discharge.

Sporting background
A former British Athletics javelin international and university 1st XI cricketer, Nader was coached by former world record holder Fatima Whitbread and competed against Jan Železný, the current world record holder, in South Africa. Sport remains central to how he thinks about recovery — he keeps fit cycling over 100km a week and plays regularly at Warrington Golf Club.
